Chelsea Ladies FC footballer Eniola Aluko has been shortlisted for the football League Women's player of the year category award a title she will be defending from 12 months ago, despite the most challenging year of her career.
Eniola moved to the Midlands as a youngster after her Nigerian parents had emigrated from Lagos to London with Eniola less than a year old. Eniola left Birmingham for London before embarking on stints in the United States at St Louis Athletica, Atlanta Braves and New Jersey outfit Sky Blue FC.
Since 2012, 30 years old Eniola has been at Chelsea Ladies where she has become one of the country's most respected women's players
